RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A water main break that shut off power and prompted evacuations to parts of VCU’s MCV campus Monday afternoon has been contained.

The break, which happened just before 2 p.m. at Sanger Hall on E. Marshall, forced evacuations at Sanger Hall, Nelson Clinic and the Children’s Pavilion.
Power was shut off to part of Sanger Hall and the Nelson Clinic while crews fixed the break.

VCU police said that the hospital’s emergency room operated normally and that no patients in the hospital were affected.

VCU Police closed streets and intersections to allow fire and public works crews to repair the damage. As a result, traffic was blocked off at the intersections of 11th Street and Broad Street, 10th Street and Marshall Street, and 13th Street and Marshall Street.
