WEST ORANGE, Fla. — Two high school students with Down Syndrome were named homecoming king and queen at their school in Florida.

According to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, Bubba Hunter and Semone Adkins are the first teens with Down Syndrome to be nominated to Homecoming Court in that part of the state.

Friends say it was the pair’s positive personalities that got them elected.

“We are not doing this because we feel bad for them or anything like that. We are doing this because we genuinely like Bubba and Semone,” said the school’s football captain.
