GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Virginia State Police are investigating motorcycle crash that happened Friday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on the exit ramp from Route 288 northbound to Interstate 64 eastbound in Goochland county.
The driver who has been identified as Jennie Porterfield, 58, of Timberlake, North Carolina lost control of the 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle and ran off the left side of the road striking the jersey wall.
The Porterfield was ejected off of the motorcycle and came to rest approximately 45 feet down to the ravine below.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing her safety helmet, suffered serious life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Henrico Doctors Hospital Forest Medical Plaza where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
