4 dead in mid-air collision

PHOENIX (CBS) – Four people died when two planes collided in the air west of Anthem, Arizona on Friday morning, according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.

Callers reported seeing flames and smoke from the crash shortly after 10 a.m.

News video showed one of the two planes destroyed by fire. The second plane, identified through records as a single-engine Piper Cherokee, was largely intact.
