LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Classmates are honoring a high school student killed in a crash just one day before her graduation.
Eighteen-year-old Dawn Ross would have graduated from Louisa County High School on Friday.
However, state police say she and 21-year-old Derrick Burford died Thursday morning when their car ran off Route 33 and struck a tree.
Troopers said neither Ross nor Buford were wearing their seatbelts -- and that speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Ross' classmates tweeted they would wear her initials on their hands to honor her memory during graduation.
