Short notice, but this is a fundraising event CBS 6 just found out about Thursday.

Friday, May 24,  the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Tappahannock Police and Essex County Fire and Emergency Services will collect gear for first responders in Oklahoma, to aid in their search and recovery operations after a deadly F-5 tornado leveled Moore, Okla.

They will also be accepting donations for victims, that will be given to the Red Cross. The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow, and will be held at the Tappahannock Walmart at 1660 Tappahannock Blvd.

You can drop off any new items such as work gloves, boots, work clothing. All items will be shipped directly to the victims through Wal-Mart’s location near the disaster site.

The event started today with a cookout, and they will also have one tomorrow. They are selling a combo of two hotdogs, chips and soda for $4 and all that money will go to the Red Cross.
