HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — As part of race weekend at Richmond International Raceway, several companies made a big donation to FeedMore’s Central Virginia Food Bank on Wednesday.
Smithfield, along with FeedMore supporters Kroger and Richmond International Raceway, donated a combined 40,000 pounds of protein to the food bank.
“Wonderful partners in our community, like Smithfield, Kroger and Richmond International Raceway, help us achieve our vision that none shall go hungry,” Doug Pick, FeedMore CEO, said in a news release.
Pick said the big donation will give countless families a much-needed protein source.
FeedMore supports the Central Virginia Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and the Community Kitchen. Those organizations hand out 75,000 meals a day to feed hungry neighbors in 31 counties and 5 cities in Central Virginia.
