Driver charged with reckless driving in two vehicle crash

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Virginia State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on I-64 west near mile marker 215 just after 9 p.m. on Saturday.

State Police say the crash happened when a Pontiac Grand Prix ran off the left side of the road and hit a Chevy Silverado pick-up truck.  After hitting the truck, the Pontiac then ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver of the Pontiac, 26-year-old Omar D. Henderson, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center.  A female According to Sergeant Molnar, neither wore a safety belt.

None of the four occupants in the pick-up truck suffered any injuries.

I-64 westbound was closed four about 30 minutes to allow the helicopter to land.

Henderson was charged with reckless driving.
