(CNN) — Officials lifted a lockdown at North Carolina A&T State University’s campus in Greensboro Friday afternoon, more than two hours after police began investigating a report of a person with a weapon on campus.
Police have deemed the campus safe, according to university spokesman Nettie Rowland. She did not elaborate on whether police found anyone with a weapon or whether the report was true.
The university said on its website and its Twitter account that classes would resume at 2 p.m. ET.
No shots or injuries were reported, a school representative said earlier.
The school had urged people on campus to stay inside while police searched the area Friday morning.
CNN’s Chuck Johnston, Paul Caron and Jennifer Moore contributed to this report.
