GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Goochland man fatally shot himself at a party Thursday night, according to the Goochland Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Camelback Road after a witness called to report a shooting Thursday night.

Deputies said 20-year-old Christopher Ryan Benson suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and later died at the hospital.

David Cash Raymond, 20, of New Line Road in Gum Spring was arrested for Reckless Handling of a Firearm.  Raymond was released and will face a preliminary hearing on Monday April 1 at 8:45 a.m. in Goochland General District Court.

Two other people on scene were charged with Possession of Alcohol by a person under 21.

“A typical off and on Thursday night, they have drinking parties,” Claude Powers said about his neighbors. “It is my understanding that at this particular party, things got out of hand and they were playing Russian Roulette--and a man was shot. "

"Very, very sad. It's just heart-breaking. Absolutely, heartbreaking,” neighbor Martha Powers said.
