2 survive plane crash in Stafford County

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- State police are investigating after a plane crash in Stafford County sent two people to the hospital Sunday morning.

Stafford County fire and rescue units responded to a reported aircraft accident near Kings Highway and Ferry Road just after 7 a.m.

Stafford County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Mark L. Doyle said in a news release that crews discovered the downed aircraft near Cranes Corner Road.

First responders found two people inside the plane, who were conscious and responsive.

Crews stabilized the plane and were able to pull the victims from the wreckage.

Doyle said the pair were sent to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.

As of 9:30 a.m., fire and rescue crews were still on the scene assisting the Virginia State Police with their investigation.
