Teen who flipped off judge apologizes

Posted

MIAMI — A Florida teenager is out of jail after she made a tearful apology to the judge she flipped off.

WSVNreported that 18-year-old Penelope Soto’s antics on Monday went viral online.
But the insult also resulted in the judge doubling her $5,000 bail on a drug possession charge and giving her 30 days in jail for contempt.

The woman was back front of  Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat on Friday and appeared much more humble.

"I apologize not only to the court and you, but to my family," she said with tears in her eyes, according to WSVN.

"Don't cry. I'm not a monster," responded Rodriguez-Chomat.

Soto claimed she was under the influence of Xanx and alcohol when she made the obscene gesture and rude comments.

As a result, Rodriguez-Chomat dropped the contempt charge and released her from jail after her apology.

Soto’s lawyer said she will complete a court ordered drug treatment program to address her charges of possessing Xanax.
