RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Some people like using tanning beds to keep a golden skin tone even during the winter.
But Virginia lawmakers want to make it harder for teenagers to get that sun kissed look.
A Senate committee has advanced legislation that would ban all teenagers under the age of 15 from using tanning beds. And anyone 15, 16, or 17 years old would need written permission.
Lawmakers said they hope to reduce young people’s risk for cancer — and stop premature aging.
Right now in Virginia, parent have to sign a written consent form for kids under 15.
