RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- One person was found dead inside a Richmond home early Wednesday morning following a house fire and partial building collapse.
Police were called to the 900 block of West 49th Street early this morning just after 2 a.m. to find the rear of the building engulfed in flames. According to Lt. Robbie Hagaman, Firefighters attempted to search the building, but the force of the fire forced them to push back.
At one point it was reported a portion of the second floor of the home had collapsed onto the first floor.
After firefighters were able to continue their search, they found the body of a deceased adult around 5 a.m.
Investigators are now on the scene, attempting to determine a cause of death.
