RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–Over the weekend the Richmond community lost an influential religious figure and civil rights supporter.
Rev. Dr. Constantine Nicholas Dombalis passed away Saturday in Florida, at age 87. Dombalis was a well-known figure in the Greek Orthodox and Christian communities.
He began serving in Richmond in the late 1950s and served for more than 40 years at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was also an active civil rights supporter during the movement in the 1960s.
His church tells CBS 6 he’ll be missed.
“He’s going to be greatly missed…he was a big presence in the community,” Nicholas Bacalis said
