WINTERPOCK, Fla. (WKMG) - A gun range in Florida is letting its customers fire shots -- at each other.  Revolvers, glocks, rifles and assault weapons are all allowed at Combat City.

Combat City owner Dave Kaplan says all participants are searched to make sure they're not holding any additional weapons. Then Kaplan takes your original weapon and modifies it by putting a re-stricter in the barrel so a live round will not fire.

Instead, the gun fires a rubber bullet.

"There is supposed to be a degree of pain with it so that you do learn from it," Kaplan said. "Someone is trying to hurt you. You learn how to be as tactical as a civilian can be."

A growing number of women are traveling to Combat City to improve their self defense skills and prepare them for real life situations. Employees at Combat City say their facility tests a person's nerve and helps them to know if they have it in them to shoot another person if their life depended on it.

They say firing at a paper target only teaches people to shoot straight in perfect conditions.
