RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The New York Marathon was canceled Friday due to the city recovering from Hurricane Sandy.
About an hour after the New York Marathon was canceled, the Richmond Marathon confirmed through its Facebook page that they had seen a surge of entries.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that the marathon had about 1,200 spots still available as of Friday night. Event director Lisa Randolph said it’s a “very strong possibility” that all the spots will be filled by race day.
