RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A nationwide meningitis outbreak is forcing some local hospitals to take action.
Bon Secours Virginia Health System, HCA Virginia And VCU Health Systems are notifying patients who received medications from the New England Compounding Pharmacy, linked to the outbreak that killed 15 people and sickened hundreds of others.
No medication shipped to our area has been known to make people sick, and the risk of getting fungal meningitis is low. However, since the outbreak has been linked to multiple drugs, hospitals are not taking any chances.
