POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Oklahoma (KOCO) - A high school teacher accused of rape may be facing charges.
Police said Wendy Hickman, who was arrested last week, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old male student and sending nude photos of herself to the teen.
The district attorney in Pottawatomie County is reviewing possible charges against Hickman.
Hickman is out of jail on a $25,000 bond stemming from a second-degree rape complaint involving one of her former students last week. However, her troubles are not over yet.
"A kid came in to class my second hour and said that they were checking phones," said one student Thursday.
The sheriff's office confirms at least four more students' phones may have explicit pictures sent from Hickman as well.
"We did have more come in we are investigating them and so that actually worked out to what we wanted," said Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer.
Authorities have now submitted paperwork to the district attorney for charges to be filed for the text messages to minors, oral sodomy and second-degree rape.
Undersheriff Palmer said these allegations have definitely taken them by storm.
"The school actually received an anonymous phone call that this juvenile had a picture of a teacher on his phone," said Palmer.
Additionally, the undersheriff said the school district did exactly what it had to do so this ordeal comes to an end now.
