GENWORTH Financial 29th annual Celebrate Freedom Independence Day Concert:  Tues. July 3, event starts 6:30pm, Patriotic and pop favorites by the U.S. Air Force Heritage band of America begin at 7:30. Fireworks at approximately 8:45p.m. 6620 W. Broad at I-64. Free admission and free parking., 804- 281-6699.

RVA FIREWORKS ON THE JAMES:  Free admission Tues. July 3, 7:30pm, Brown’s Island. Entertainment by SPARC, Richmond Ballet’s “Minds in Motion” and the Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra. Fireworks approximately 9:30p.m., free viewing sites at the Virginia War Memorial, Oregon Hill, Manchester and Chimborazo Park.  (rain date, for fireworks only Thursday, July 5.)

DOGWOOD DELL:  Wednesday,  July 4 with free concert featuring Susan Greenbaum (5:30p.m.) , the Carillon bells (7p.m) and the Richmond Concert band (7:30p.m) followed by fireworks at 9p.m.  Byrd Park’s Dogwood Dell.  Free Admission.  804-646-3355 (DELL)

ASHLAND FOURTH OF JULY:  11a.m. parade from Henry Clay Elementary on Hanover Avenue to the Hanover Arts & Activities Center at 500 S. Center Street.   With free admission, music, crafts, games and more.

PARHAM PARADE AND FESTIVAL:  Weds. July 4.  Parade featuring the 392nd Army Band from Ft. Lee, starts 10am Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Parham and ends at Parham Road Baptist Church, 2102 N. Parham,  active military and veterans ceremony Henrico Concert Band, family games and more.  Free admission; picnics welcome.

FOURTH AT THE FORT:  Ft. Lee celebration July 4 at Williams Stadium on base music and children’s activities, from 2p.m. to 10p.m., concert with country singer Justin Moore 7p.m.  Fireworks at 9:45p.m.  Admission is free.  Adults will need a photo I.D. for base access.  804-755-3176

OLD-FASHIONED FOURTH:  Meadow Farm/Crump park featuring music, entertainment, arts and crafts, a watermelon feats and tethered hot-air balloon rides.  Free Admission, 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.  804-501-5134

CHESTERFIELD FOURTH CELEBRATION: Gates open at 5 p.m., County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Road.  Enjoy entertainment, children’s activities and fireworks at dark.  Free Admission. 804-798-1623

COLONIAL HEIGHTS:   Bring blankets and lawn chairs for fireworks beginning at 9:15p.m. July 4th.  Best vantage points are off I-95, at Exit 53 or 54 in the Wal-mart area off Charles Dimmock Parkway. Raindate: July 5.   

GOOCHLAND FOURTH CELEBRATION:   This July 4th, enjoy a night under the stars in Goochland’s. Park, picnic, & watch the fireworks starting at 9P.M. . 1800 Sandy Hook Rd.  No tailgating and alcohol. Free

LEWIS BOTANICAL GARDEN:   Free admission 9a.m. to 5p.m.  All-American Celebration, Wednesday  , July 4th.  Dress the kids in red, white and blue and bring your strollers and wagons to be in the parade. RACING TO THE STARS & STRIPES:  Colonial Downs on Weds. July 4th with post-time at 5p.m. trackside concert and fireworks to end the evening. Admission is $5.00 with 12 and under free.  (966-7223)

Busch Gardens Fourth of July Fireworks, In addition to the regular IllumiNights, a full-scale fireworks show scheduled with a patriotic ending at 9:30,, 800.343.7946.

Military Days at Kings Dominion, July 3-4, Free Admission only valid on July 3 & 4 for those qualifying with a valid US military I.D, Moment of silence at noon, Flag raising by Quantico color guard and soloist on July 3 and VFW Veterans on July 4,  Bagpipe soloist Tim MacLeod, Special 15 minute firework show on July 4, All-you-Can-Eat Armed Forces Meal Deal $15, 12- 3pm,
