A slow-moving disturbance and surface cold front will bring Virginia several rounds of showers and thunderstorms tonight through Tuesday. This rainfall will come at a good time as Richmond’s rainfall deficit for 2012 is now exceeding 5″. You can see from the graphic that we were doing much better in the rain department last year with a deficit of only 1.6″ to date. Most of central and eastern Virginia should receive between a half of an inch to an inch of rain from this event, with locally higher amounts in areas that receive isolated thunderstorms. High pressure will build into the region Wednesday and will remain in place through the upcoming weekend, limiting any chance for rainfall in the area. -Zach
