The Royal Family is currently reviewing the use of the term "royal" in connection with the "more progressive" and less visible role in the family Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, plan to take in the coming months, according to CNN and Reuters.

CNN reports that the couple will "likely" be unable to use the term as part of marketing.

"As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word 'royal', in this context, needed to be reviewed," a royal source told Reuters.

In January, the couple announced they would be taking a step back as "senior" members of the British royal family and hoped to become more financially independent from the Crown. However, the couple filed for a trademark in the UK for the term "Sussex Royal." The trademark covered the term in instances printed matter, clothing, campaigning, charitable fundraising, education and social care services.

The couple also launched an Instagram page and website under the same name as part of their announcement.

According to CNN, the couple has already agreed to stop using the terms "His and Her royal highness" and has already agreed to forego some state funding.

Reuters reports that Harry will keep his title as "Prince," and that the couple will keep the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
