RICHMOND, Va.-- So far no arrests have been made, but Crime Insider sources confirm at least half a dozen dogs, along with dog fighting accessories, were seized from an East End home this week.

A woman, who wants to remain anonymous, said she knew something was going down at a home on Campbell Avenue.

"Coming down the street, I saw two Richmond Animal Control trucks, one on each side of the street and said, 'Oh, they’re coming to get somebody's dogs,'" she said Wednesday.

Crime Insider sources say in addition to the dogs, items that were listed in a search warrant executed at the address in the 5500 block a week ago were also taken.

"As an animal lover, I can't stand mistreatment, I can't even look at the SPCA commercials,” the woman said.

The investigation reveals that Animal Control officers were looking for signs of animal cruelty, neglect, and dogfighting.

An affidavit states that one of the dogs had injuries consistent with fighting and that multiple dogs were tethered with large chains.

The homeowner also admitted that a treadmill was locked in a shed in the backyard.

The affidavit points out that treadmills are common in conditioning dogs to fight.

“God forgive me, but may they be prosecuted to the fullest extent and hopefully learn their lesson," the neighbor said.

A judge decided Monday night that at least 6 of the dogs will remain in the care of animal control. The investigation into all the players is still ongoing.
