RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Animal League (RAL) has been able to provide lifesaving care for pets throughout the pandemic, thanks to the support from the community.

"Every donation that comes through, you know, it really helps move along our mission of providing hope, help, and homes for pets in need," said Lauren Decker, with the Richmond Animal League.

She said this was the eight year of hosting the event, but it's a little different since it is virtual. Last year's Sugar and Spice Event was the last in-person event they had.

Sugar and Spice, sponsored by the Glaser Group, focuses on sharing stories with supporters and how they’ve made an impact -- such as keeping their community pet pantry stocked.

Even though the event is virtual, it will feature some of the its traditions like the silent auction and showcasing a lot of the furry friends.

"We are still going to have sweet and savory delights for people to enjoy," said Decker. "We have VIP boxes that people can purchase and enjoy during the evening."

The popular Small Art and Big Heart collection is also back this year. Decker said,"We have over 200 pieces of small art this year. Every single dollar raised is going to help the most in-need pets in our community.".

Sugar and Spice fundraiser is on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. It is free to RSVP on their website and you’ll receive the link to the virtual event when you do.
