BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. -- Investigators in Brunswick County continue to search for three men wanted in the murder of 60-year-old David Livingston.
Early Friday morning, home surveillance video caught Livingston walking out the door leading to his carport.
"It appears that morning, that these three guys, based on the video camera system at his house, were sitting outside waiting for him and pretty much ambushed him in his carport," Brunswick Sheriff Brian Roberts said. "Then obviously took him back in the house and murdered him."
Livingston was shot multiple times.
The crime scene is at a home just off Route 58 near the Brunswick - Greensville County line.
After Livingston's body was discovered by a relative, the sheriff said investigators learned of a possible earlier crime.
"Word on the street is alleged that, back in mid-October, a burglary took place and supposedly some money and drugs were stolen from him them, from potentially three people," Roberts said. "Our intel shows us the victim was potentially involved in some illegal drug activity."
As for the alleged burglary, it was never reported to law enforcement, according to Sheriff Roberts.
Investigators believe the wanted men are from the Emporia area.
"I know people are scared, I mean supposedly these three guys are involved in a gang there in Emporia and I have no doubt, it's obviously proven they're violent, but we have to get people to trust us, to try to help us," Sheriff Roberts said.
