RICHMOND, Va. -- As COVID-19 continues to spread across Virginia, Gov. Northam is encouraging Virginians to vote absentee in case future elections are affected.
"I consider elections to be a fundamental democratic event and voting to be an essential right," Northam said at a press conference on Wednesday, "We are continuing to work through the best option for how to hold these elections in this time of social distancing and public health concerns."
In the meantime, Northam urged Virginians to request and return absentee ballots for local elections in May and Congressional Primaries in June
Those who live alone can ask a neighbor to witness them sign it from a safe distance, Northam said.
