North Carolina woman arrested for abducting nine-year-old

RICHMOND, Va. -- A North Carolina woman was arrested on Thursday for abducting her family member.

Around 6 p.m., Virginia State Police received an alert from the Raleigh, NC Police Department about an abduction suspect traveling north on Interstate 95 in the vicinity of the Interstate 85 interchange near Petersburg.

The suspect was a woman who had abducted a 9-year-old family member.

State police set up along I-95 in an attempt to locate the Honda CRV.

When the trooper attempted to stop the Honda, the driver refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit ended near the Willis Road interchange and the woman was taken into custody.

The 9-year-old was safely recovered from the vehicle.
