HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The Henrico School Board planned to hold three virtual town hall meetings involving students in the discussion on effective virtual learning ahead of the new school year.

Two of those meetings were scheduled for Thursday.

One was to be held at 10 a.m., the other at 2 p.m.

A third virtual meeting was set to take place on August 31, at 10 a.m.

In the meetings, school leaders planned to discuss a variety of topics with students including ideas for effective virtual learning, keeping students engaged, and building a sense of community -- in the first meeting.

The second meeting was to focus on possible training for students and parents, 'transition buddies' for students entering a new school, and outdoor events to encourage social and emotional connections.

In the third meeting, school leaders and students planned to discuss ideas for mental and physical well being as well as ways to stay connected, motivated, and combat isolation and depression.

All Henrico Public School students were invited to attend. No registration was required.

Students could ask questions at the virtual meeting, or ahead of time by going to the school division's website.

Students could also find instructions to access the meetings here.

Sessions were to be recorded and posted online as well.
