HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- In a meeting Wednesday evening, the Hanover County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved bonuses for all county employees, including police officers, firefighters and school workers.

The funding for the one-time bonus is being pulled from the general fund and from other budgeted funds.

“Regular ordinary people, sure give them a bonus. People hired after September 1, sure give them a bonus...but people who make one hundred grand or more, they should voluntary give up there bonus to lower the taxes for the rest of the citizens who are suffering significantly now,” Lisa Egget said during the public comment of the meeting.

In Hanover, there are over 1,000 county employees and nearly 4,000 employees within the school system that will all be granted a bonus with their final paycheck of this year, according to the county administrator.

All full-time employees will get $750 and all part-time employees will get $375.
