HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — A boil water advisory for homes and businesses in the Doswell pressure zone of Hanover County is continued into Monday after a water main break caused a drop in water pressure early Saturday morning.

The affected area includes customers north of Hickory Hill Road along the Route 1 corridor to the Verdon Road area, and the Route 30 corridor from Route 1 to Meadow Event Park.

Crews from the Department of Public Utilities responded to the break near the Doswell Water Treatment Plant to isolate the leak and restore pressure.

Following guidance from the Virginia Department of Health, the boil water advisory will remain in place for at least 48 hours as a precautionary measure. Officials noted there is no evidence of contamination, but the advisory was issued due to the temporary loss of pressure.

"The first round of bacteriological samples was collected at 12:35 p.m. Saturday," county officials said in an email around 5 p.m. "A second round is scheduled for Sunday morning. The advisory will remain in place until test results confirm the water meets all safety standards."

Repair work is currently underway and will continue through next week, according to officials.

As a result of the water issues, Kings Dominion theme park is closed Saturday and Sunday.

"Due to the nearby water main break that has impacted our water supply, Kings Dominion and Soak City will be closed Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22," the park posted on social media. "All tickets dated 6/21/25 and 6/22/25 may be used any day during the 2025 season."

Park officials said they hope to reopen on Monday, but encouraged visitors to check back for updates.
