STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. -- The body of a 15-year-old boy who went missing Monday in the Rappahannock River has been recovered.
The Stafford Sheriff’s Office says the teen went underwater at Falmouth Beach Monday afternoon and never resurfaced.
First responders searched with divers and drones until nightfall, but were unable to locate the teen. The search was called off after darkness set in Monday night and resumed Tuesday morning.
Tuesday, crews with boats, divers, drones and cadaver dogs worked throughout the day to locate the missing teen.
The body of the missing 15-year-old was located Wednesday morning in the Rappahannock River near the Chatham Bridge.
He has been identified as Hasnain Ghafoor of Manassas.
