One dead after two-vehicle crash on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A person has died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Midlothian Turnpike near Old Hundred Road in Chesterfield County.

Chesterfield Police said around 7 a.m., a Honda Civic and Ford F-150 were both headed west at a high speed when they hit each other.

The Honda ran off the road to the right, striking a utility pole and overturning.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to police. He was later identified as 31-year-old Elder A. Ramos Reyes of Henrico.

One person in the truck was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Part of Midlothian Turnpike between Watkins Centre Parkway and Old Hundred Road was closed as police investigated this crash.
