Club honors beloved longtime Richmond employee who died of cancer

RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond motor club honored a beloved member and longtime city employee who died of colon cancer.

Fifty-one-year-old Tyrone Thompkins worked for the the City of Richmond for more than 25 years, according to family members.

Thompkins was member of the 804 Car Club, which held a ride Sunday with several others car groups in honor of the father of three.

Thompkins' sister said the large turn out meant the world to her family.

"He was a well-known father, a great brother and a well-known friend to everyone," Beverly Thompkins said" And behind the scenes as well. He gave back to the community. He did more than we knew he did."

Thompkins said her brother's memory will continue to live on every time his friends take to the road.
