HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The man rescued from a Henrico apartment Thursday morning has died of his injuries, according to a Henrico Fire spokesperson.
Firefighters were called to the 2200 block of Rockwater Terrace, in the Stony Run community, at about 9 a.m.
"The Stony Run community is in Henrico’s West End and consists of four residential units under one roof," an email from Henrico Fire read. "Henrico Fire units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from one residential unit. Firefighters rescued one civilian from a residential unit. That victim has been transported to VCU medical center – critical care hospital."
Officials identified the victim as a 55-year-old man in an email update at 7 p.m.
His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
