GLEN ALLEN, Va.-- The 2020-2021 school will begin virtually for students in Henrico County and school officials say students will need more supplies than normal.

To help with the need, HCPS Department of Family and Community Engagement will be hosting the pop-up school supply drive at Mad Science of Central Virginia in Glen Allen.

"We understand we are in the middle of a pandemic, so some families may not have resources or funds available to go and purchase supplies for the upcoming school year," Anastasiya Rogatnik , co-owner of Mad Science of Central Va, said.

Due to the pandemic, the supply drive will be "drive-thru" style and school officials asked you wear a mask as they will be practicing social distancing.

Along with the standard school supplies, i.e. pencils, markers, and notebooks, school officials ask you to also bring items that would normally be found within the classroom, i.e. globes, wall maps, laminators, and small incentives to help with motivating students after a job well done.

"Of course we have our standard notebook, paper, pencil, right, but we have things like a file folder, staplers, and staples. We have things like printers. Maybe there’s a partner who can partner with us and get printers for families. They’ll have laptops, so things may need to be printed out," Van-Neisha Johnson, Community Engagement Coordinator HCPS, said.

Start time is 1:30 p.m.- 3 p.m.
