LONDON -- The boyfriend of Caroline Flack, a British television presenter who has died at 40, said Sunday that his “heart is broken" as criticism swelled at her treatment by some British media.

Flack was found dead Saturday at her home in east London after taking her own life, according to a family lawyer.

Flack hosted the controversial reality TV program “Love Island” from its launch in 2015 before stepping down last year after being charged with assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.

He did not want the charges to be pressed and Flack denied the charge.

The Sun tabloid removed negative online articles about her soon after her death was announced

“Love Island” deposits attractive contestants are deposited in a tropical paradise where they must pair up or risk being exiled.

Critics claim the program puts vulnerable young people under intense pressure.

Former contestants killed themselves in 2018 and 2019.
