RICHMOND, Va. -- A local nonprofit aimed at assisting area homeless students and low income families needs your help.

Mission From The Heart Foundation, an organization started by CBS 6 Reporter Shelby Brown, is hosting a collection drive Saturday, Sept. 26 from 2 until 5 p.m.

The drive continues the following week on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3.

The collection drive will take place at the Walmart store on Sheila Lane in South Richmond.

Shelby and volunteers will be collecting much-needed toiletry items, socks, undergarments for elementary through high school age students.

They are also in need of new jackets and warm items. Supporters can also make monetary donations as well.

Volunteers will be wearing masks and following social distancing protocols during this event.

They will ask shoppers to pick up items when they go into the store and drop off their donations in a collection bin once they exit Walmart.

If you would like to help Mission From The Heart Foundation help families and students in need, donate at the Sheila Lane Walmart this weekend and next weekend.

You will notice the big CBS 6 News tent.
