RICHMOND, Va. – Beachbody Super Trainer Joel Freeman, who will be leading a workout Saturday at the THRIVE Richmond Women's Health & Fitness Expo presented by CBS 6 at the Richmond Raceway Complex, is sharing secrets about his highly-anticipated “10 Rounds” workout.
Freeman, who is on tour across America and making a stop in RVA to introduce "10 Rounds," appeared on "Virginia This Morning" on CBS 6 to demo the workout.
"It's a sneak peek of the 10 rounds total body workout, which launches on Beachbody On Demand in April," host Jessica Noll explained.
"It is big. It's the first of its kind. We've never filmed we've never filmed on the road before," Freeman said. "We've never filmed in different locations..."
Freeman said boxing is such an "empowering workout" that may people think about trying, but can be intimidated by.
"So with '10 Rounds,' [we wanted] to create something that brings that world to them into their home, and they get to do in the privacy of their own home, but it is doable by everybody," Freeman said. "And that's the number one question that I've get, obviously with '10 Rounds' is saying, 'Can I do this if I've never had any boxing experience ever?' And the answer is, '100 percent yes.' Or if you've been boxing like me for a long time, you'll get a great workout."
Freeman showed Jessica a basic breakdown of one of the movements of the workout.
"The whole thing about boxing though is it starts from the ground up. OK, now you've talked about things that you've done in the past when it comes to exercise and what you're used to doing, right?" Freeman said. "And a lot of it comes from the hip movement and hip rotation... So that hip rotation and that lower body movement is where all the power comes from."
Freeman said folks think they "just have to stand here and throw their punches," but Freeman said the range of motion is much more complex.
"Now, the more rotation you get out of your punches, the more power you're going to get. And the more your whole body is working. And that's why boxing works so well. And that's why '10 Rounds' is just annihilating fat."
Freeman said "10 Round" features a lot of different combinations of movements.
"All right, you just learned four punches, easily," Freeman told Jessica. "So good amount of repetition is what '10 Rounds' is all about. You'll learn all the punches, we learned defense, we learned a lot of lower body conditioning -- you're just torching calories, melting fat and the results have been phenomenal."
The THRIVE Richmond Women's Health & Fitness Expo presented by CBS is THIS Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex.
