RICHMOND, Va. -- The coronavirus pandemic is making it harder for some families to keep food on the table.
"Working in news, There are certain topics you cover that just stick with you. One of them for me -- is food insecurity -- and just how many people in our region don't know where their next meal will come from," said CBS 6 reporter Jake Burns.
CBS 6 recently spoke with Feed More about the increase in the number of people they're helping out each month.
"Pre-COVID it was about 150,000 and we believe today we're probably having to serve about 300,000," said Feed More CEO Douglas Pick.
Burns says he felt compelled to give.
"With a need that great -- as a part of CBS 6 gives -- we've made a generous donation to Feed More to help out with their spike in demand," said Burns.
Feed More says $1 can provide five meals for families in need.
