GLENDALE, Arizona -- Carolann Miracle said she did not want to kill him, but she had to defend herself. Now the Maricopa County Attorney's Office will determine whether the Arizona woman will be charged for shooting and killing a would-be robber.
Miracle said she was at a Circle K store when a man approached and asked for a cigarette. Seconds after he asked the question, Miracle said he pulled out a gun and pointed it at her.
"He put the gun up to my neck," she told KNXV. "I think he thought, 'she's a little girl. Maybe she doesn't know how to use her weapon.'"
Miracle said she immediately dropped the soda she was drinking, released her gun from her holster and cocked it.
"[I] shot him and ran in the opposite direction," she said.
She ran home and called 911. The man died as a result of the shooting.
Miracle said was struggling with that happened.
"I feel bad. I didn't mean to kill him," she said. "I feel bad for his mom. And I found out he had a one-week-old baby. I feel bad for what I did. I didn't mean too, but I had to defend my sister and me."
