RICHMOND, Va. – If you are near the University of Richmond this weekend, you may notice some wizards milling about the school’s campus.
A group of live action role playing enthusiasts (LAPR) have turned the campus into a Hogwarts-esque New World Magischola: A College of Wizardry Larp.
People from across the country are assuming the role of students and professors over the course of a four-day weekend.
Angella Seaman traveled from Texas to the River City for the special event.
“It’s a form of escapism, so we get to come out here and be someone else – forget about what’s going on in our real lives for a little while – and relax and have fun and pretend to be someone else,” Seaman said.
The university newspaper reports that 567 people paid $303,877 via a KickStarter campaign to play magic at the university for the weekend.
