CHANDLER, Ariz. – An Arizona boy may have saved his coach’s life after the man collapsed during practice, and the quick-thinking 13-year-old is crediting the Boy Scouts for knowing what to do.

Isaac Wenrich, 26, was in the middle of training drills when he suffered a massive heart attack and fell to the ground in front of the team. Luckily, one of his young players jumped into action.

“He fell flat on his face and then I asked if he was okay and he wasn’t answering so I grabbed his phone and called 911,” 13-year-old Nathan Boyer told KNXV.

After explaining what happened to the dispatcher, Boyer says he remembered his CPR classes in the Boy Scouts and began performing chest compressions.

“If he didn’t get CPR he would be gone,” Katy Huetter said. “He would be dead right now.”

When emergency responders arrived at the field they took over for Boyer, rushing Wenrich to a local hospital.

Wenrich is still recovering but is expected to make a full recovery, and he likely has one of his players to thank for it.
