RICHMOND, Va. — One Richmond’s acclaimed purveyor of pies is offering a special deal for customers on Pi Day, Monday, March 14. Proper Pie Co., the Church Hill shop where Food Network’s Alton Brown said he had “the best” pumpkin pie, will open at noon to celebrate the day which celebrates Pi(e).
“For the first time in pie shop history, we will be open on a Monday to celebrate Pi Day!” Proper Pie posted on Facebook. “Yes, we will have our annual mug giveaway! First 100 mugs free with purchase of a savory or sweet pie. One per customer. We will have some extra for purchase as well. First come first served.”
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14, because the date mimics the first three digits of the mathematical constant pi, which is 3.14.
