RICHMOND, Va. — Hundreds of people reported seeing a bright streak in the sky over Virginia Saturday night. The fire ball sighting, at about 6:15 p.m., prompted many people to report what they saw on social media.

“Meteor sighting last night over the Richmond area, this one was a monster in which blew apart as it passed over,” ‎Ed Bessette posted on the WTVR CBS 6 News Facebook page.

“Did anyone see something in the sky tonight?” ‎Marie Santiago-Hodges asked. “It was green and yellow streaks in the town of West Point.”
