Former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore to run for president

RICHMOND, Va. — Former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore confirmed to CBS 6 that he is planning to run for president and will officially enter the race in August.

The Republican told CBS 6, he doesn’t think the needs of the country are being met and his biggest concerns are growing the economy and addressing national security. He said he has the credentials to address those issues.

Gilmore was the governor of Virginia from 1998 to 2002. Gilmore also ran for the Republican nomination in 2008 Presidential election.
