PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A woman accused of walking into office buildings and stealing from workers in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania was arrested by the Fugitive Squad in Portsmouth, Virginia. Ameenah K. Franks, 30, was charged in Norfolk with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny and one count Credit Card Theft. She has additional charges pending in Richmond, Greenbelt, Maryland and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Police initially put out an alert on Franks in June when officials believed she was responsible for multiple larcenies at VDOT’s Richmond headquarters. Franks, police said, would walk into building and pose as a lost employee. Once inside, she would steal personal items and office supplies, police said.
Franks was previously arrested in 2004 after an investigation into multiple thefts from government buildings and facilities in the Washington DC metropolitan area, according to WTKR. She was sentenced to serve 36 months in prison.
