RICHMOND, Va. -- Christina M. Mabry, 37, of the 4600 block of Grove Avenue, was arrested on June 26 and charged with second degree murder and using a weapon to stab or cut, according to Richmond Police. On May 31, at approximately 1:45 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 4600 block of Grove Avenue. Police initially described the incident as a domestic dispute.

"The neighbor in the apartment building called to report a domestic disturbance in apartment five. Upon arrival a female, Christina Marbry, answered the door," the Richmond Police affidavit for search warrant indicated. "She initially told officers at things were fine and her male partner was not there. Officers then observed a male, Woodrow Anstead, bleeding profusely from a severe wound to the chest."

Anstead, 38, walked out of the apartment, down the hallway and collapsed, police said. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

The victim’s brother, James Anstead, told WTVR CBS 6 his younger brother and Mabry had known each other for a few years and, but were not boyfriend and girlfriend. He said the two did have a physical relationship. He said Mabry was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a medical examiner found her domestic dispute story inconsistent with self-defense.
