SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- The battle to keep Sweet Briar College open is headed to the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Justices are scheduled to hear an appeal this Thursday.
In March, the president and Sweet Briar's governing board cited "insurmountable financial challenges" when they announced the school would close.
Three lawsuits have been filed since then.
If Sweet Briar shuts its doors, it will be the third private college in Virginia to close in the past three years.
