RICHMOND, Va. -- High school graduation for most of the class of 2015 begin the first week of June. With many graduations taking place at the VCU Siegel Center, heavier than normal traffic is expected on campus between June 2 and June 13. Ceremonies can range from 2,500 up to 6,000 graduates, so drivers headed to and from the Siegel Center should expect traffic delays.
VCU police will be out to direct traffic and ask all graduates and guests to arrive early in order to find parking.
"Arriving early and planning some extra time for parking is advised," VCU Police Capt. Sean Ingram said. "Taking an alternate route around the Siegel Center is encouraged if drivers are not headed to a graduation ceremony. Our goal is to maintain timely and safe travel for our local high school graduates and their guests."
Doors at the Siegel Center open one hour prior to the start of each school's graduation ceremony. Parking is available in the West Broad Street parking lot a 111 W. Broad Street and at the Bowe Street Parking Deck at 601 Bowe Street.
