Joe Morrissey held a press conference Thursday with the mother of his recent child, to talk publicly about the couple’s relationship.
Morrissey recently revealed he is the father of Myrna Pride’s child. When Pride was 17-years-old she interned as a secretary at Morrissey’s law firm.
He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge for having an inappropriate relationship with her. Because he entered an Alford plea, Morrissey did not admit he broke the law, but did admit there was enough evidence to convict him.
“I never engaged in any sexual activity with Mr. Morrissey before I was a legal adult,” Pride said at the press conference.
Morrissey, who is 38 years older at age 57, said he plans on marrying the teen. He also emphasized that Pride was of legal age when she was pregnant with the child.
Baby Chase was born on March 14, six days before Pride turned 19, he said.
They both said the baby will be baptized.
Pride told reporters today that sometimes things like her son Chase aren’t planned.
She also acknowledged that she understands “dating a public figure and a high-profile defense attorney certain things have to be answered; your life is public.”
“I have come to terms now that this is something we have to do whether I like it or not,” she said.
“He lights up my world,” she said about Chase. Morrissey said they are “very happy” as a family.
